What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese Medicine Practitioners aim to find the cause of the disease in order to treat the presenting condition.

They base their diagnosis on the Chinese Medicine principles that include five important organ systems within the body and the yin and yang concept.

The five organ systems incorporate digestion, nutrition, circulation within the body (including nervous, blood and breathing), emotional and mental state. All five organ systems are connected and can influence how the other systems function.  Should one or more of these systems be damaged in some way either by diet, stress, environmental factors or trauma etc. then disease may occur.

In addition to the five organ system Chinese Medicine practitioners use the Yin and Yang concept when diagnosing. These are two elements within the body and surrounding environment that can influence how the other one functions. If a person should have too much or too little of one (either yin or yang) then disease may occur.
